Ovaries not producing eggs.?

I had a follow up appointment this morning for a sonogram. The woman who did the sonogram said my uterus is facing the back not the front like it should be and that my ovary looked like swiss cheese which mean that i haven't produced any eggs. What exactly does this mean? Was there a way to tell all these years Ive been getting my monthly menstrual. I have always has a lot of pain with cramps for the first 3 days and nausea but i never noticed anything else. I have gained a bit of weight since last summer and I don't eat any differently then i did before. All i really want to know is if I can have children? I love kids and Ive been working with them for 4 years and now i'm a nanny. It was just very surprising news.
