What would happen if a country radio station suddenly played only 80's country?

Your idea is not new. Depending on your market(and you darn well better research your market!) you could very well do this. Especially with a continual (weekly) effort of doing call out research on every single song you add into your rotation. A rotation I might add that will be narrowcasted to death.(only the giant hits and major artists for the most part)..And don't listen to outsiders.Pay attention to your market and don't let national trends necessarily scare you into playing something just cause they like it in Punkhole,VA.!...If you test a song in your market and it "stiffs" as we say--don't play it! Always remember, you're playing to your market, not the national charts.Lots more to it, but ,that's for another day....good luck!
